Registering your pet makes it easier to return them to you if they go missing and almost any domestic animal can be microchipped and registered, including birds and reptiles.
In most states across Australia, it is also a legal requirement that all cats, dogs (excluding some working farm dogs) and horses are microchipped with an ISO approved PPID (Prescribed Permanent Identification Device) for life. Some councils also require your pet to be registered with them after the microchip is implanted. We recommend that you contact your local council to find out whether this applies to you.
